My background as an attorney in Florida (1988-2014) and State-Certified Mediator helped me cultivate effective analytical and negotiating skills. Human Health Advocates, based in Boca Raton, FL, has successfully conducted more than 100 hospital negotiations in more than 20 states, as well as many other provider negotiations on a broad geographical basis. We have helped many patients, and their loved ones resolve medical debt in collections, fight insurance denials, prepare and prevail in insurance appeals, obtain financial aid, and negotiate resolutions of hospital and other provider claims.

Having a mother with Alzheimer’s taught me to appreciate the most difficult job in the world – caretaking for a relative or loved one. Several times, in going over her bills, I noticed things that didn’t seem right. Several times I had to call her insurance company and providers to straighten out excessive or mistaken billing. I realized firsthand how difficult it is to understand the function and operation of today’s health insurance, and eventually how to reach the right person at the hospital, willing to review, reverse and correct the overcharges and or mistakes. It struck me how little the public understands the billing and insurance processes. I decided to learn everything I could about medical debt advocacy, and opened Human Health Advocates on January 1, 2015, in hopes of being able to help others with these sometimes overwhelming processes.
